Subject: Digital scan is exceptional-- remarkable illustrations
"Zoology of Egypt" was written in 1888, so some of the content is, er..., dated. However, the book shouldn't be dismissed because of its age. Descriptions of behavior, habitat, populations, etc would still be useful for those who are interested the species or their histories. Of course, there are big changes in nomenclature & the understanding of biology.
I'm impressed with the quality of the digital scan. The text is crisp and the illustrations are detailed and beautiful. The detail is preserved even when the pictures are enlarged quite a bit. The artists, PJ Smit, J Green & H Grönvold, were thorough, often presenting the reptiles from several viewpoints.
